Have you ever been scrap booking, painting or
crafting at your kitchen table wishing your sister or friends were there having
fun with you?
I have, and I think more than anything, this was the inspiration
for the concept of Making Jewelry Fun. I have always invited friends over to my
house to do crafts so this has been a natural transition for me.
We all gather life experience which ultimately shapes who we are
and how we see the world. My life experience has taught me the importance (and
the joy) of sharing with and helping others. I also believe that deep within
all of us, we need to feel that we’ve made a difference in the lives of others.
We must assign meaning and purpose to our lives. This is my way of making a
difference in the lives of others.
My work experience in predominantly male industries has given me
the ambition to create an environment of fairness and generosity, a program
where motivation and taking initiative is a good thing. An opportunity where
achievement, not politicking is rewarded and recognized. A culture where we
look out for you and you look out for us. Because after all, we think of this
as a two way relationship.
Speaking of women in business, my grandmother was one of the
first woman real estate agents in Salt Lake City. I loved and admired her so
much. She has passed on now but I have several heirlooms that she left me.
Because I’ve made jewelry for years, she would sometimes give me a broken strand
of beads to tinker with. One of these was a beautiful 3 strand necklace of
luscious chocolate colored crystals. I took those beads and made memory wire
bracelets for my Mom, sister, aunt, and of course - myself. Something we can
wear to remind us of her generous spirit and glamour.
This is the passion and power of jewelry. The ability to speak
to the wearer in an emotional way. This has been jewelry’s universal appeal
throughout all ages and cultures. Like music, jewelry speaks all languages.
I believe that we can accomplish amazing things, both as
individuals and as a group. We are powerful beyond our own imagination, we just
have to find the courage to believe in ourselves and each other. If you would
like to be a part of something amazing, something that will feed you emotionally
and literally, consider joining our team. We are all about making a difference.
